Ingredients:
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil (plus extra for greasing the pan)
2 slices of applewood-smoked bacon
4 canned pineapple rings
1 pound fresh pizza dough, at room temperature
½ cup pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup thinly sliced red onion
4 slices Canadian bacon, cut into 1-inch triangles
Instructions :
Preheat your oven to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C) with a rack in the lower position. Grease a large rimmed baking sheet with olive oil.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until it becomes golden brown and crisp, flipping occasionally. This should take about 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate.
Without wiping the pan clean, pour out the bacon drippings and return the skillet to heat. Add the pineapple rings and cook until they become lightly browned and caramelized, approximately 3 minutes per side. Remove the caramelized pineapple from the pan and chop both the bacon and pineapple rings into 3/4-inch pieces.
On a lightly floured surface, roll the pizza dough to form a 12-inch circle and place it on the oiled baking sheet. Use a fork to prick the dough several times to reduce air bubbles.
Evenly spread the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a 1 1/2-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese, red onion, Canadian bacon, chopped pineapple, and chopped bacon over the sauce.
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly, the toppings are lightly charred, and the crust is golden brown. This usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
Allow the pizza to stand for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade Hawaiian pizza!
